Poolside Performances are an exploration of experimental music, movement, and mark-making. The Verdant Kind, Music for Vocals, Strings, Birds, and Machines is an open-air sonic vision performed by Detroit native artist, Vespre. This performance is an expression of Vespre’s passion for music that exists in the beautiful tension between acoustic and electronic instrumentation. Joined by a vocal ensemble, strings, and accompanied by the sounds of our natural world, Vespre will be reimagining her original music and newer work along with paying tribute to some of the artists who have inspired her creative practice amid the verdant surroundings of the Cranbrook Art Museum grounds near the Triton Pools.

Vespre is choosey with her words on “things we want to know,” where she uses a passive, somber groove with great drums and bass to explain where things went awry. No harm, no foul, great jam.”

“Vespre Breathes Life into Spring on New Single “Back to Me””

|48 HILLS SAN FRANCISCO|

““Back To Me” is a banger, a coolly-sung R&B jam you can throw on while cruising around town or drop in the middle of a DJ set.”

Detroit chillwave darling Vespre premieres new single, 'Lovers' (Detroit Metro Times)

"The musical project of multi-instrumentalist and artist, Kaylan Waterman, Vespre's new single "Lovers" channels an epiphanic moment from early '90s cinema starring Whitney Houston or Meg Ryan. Powerful, danceable, and bursting with certainty."

Playing Detroit - Vespre (Audiofemme)

"A soothing and heavenly departure from her history as a folk artist and frontwoman of The Normandies, Kaylan Waterman slipped into new waters with her latest project VESPRE.  Introducing this new exploration with the track “Siren,” VESPRE produces an aural shimmering pool of blurry constellations, reflective and curious."

"Waterman is an unstoppable creative force with bold character. Ethereal synth tones and R&B grooves cradle the listener and whisk them away to a lush soundscape of Waterman's invention."
